China introduces online visa system for Indians

(MENAFN) China has introduced an online application platform in India to streamline the visa process for Indian travelers, part of broader confidence-building measures between the two countries. The digital system allows applicants to submit most documentation online, reducing processing time and simplifying initial procedures.

This development follows India’s own efforts to expedite visas for Chinese business professionals, cutting approval times to under a month. Relations between the neighbors have gradually improved after being strained by a June 2020 border clash and the suspension of tourist visas and direct flights for several years. Direct flights resumed in October 2025, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited China in August, marking his first trip to the country since 2018.

Beijing emphasized its readiness to engage with India strategically and foster long-term bilateral cooperation.
